i wish to take MC... 很想生病。。。

i have had this bug for like a while now... feels like i am falling sick, but technically i am not sick enough for a MC... hehehe...

DSCN7286.jpg picture by raymondlee06

so far, i have been coughing and having a runny nose for a while... i felt that i had a fever...

DSCN7287.jpg picture by raymondlee06

but unfortunately, i don't...

i do however feel my body being weak... and aches... each morning, that headache/hangover feeling (i don't drink) does not go away... and my balance feels a bit off...

DSCN7288.jpg picture by raymondlee06

for the cough, i take this... this is supposedly good... and yummy... hehehe... no... i am not addicted to this la...

oh well... if i am falling sick, then i need the virus to attack quickly... the gestation period is far too long... i'm bored waiting to fall sick...

too many credit cards...

ok... i'm guilty... of owning too many credit cards...

creditcards.jpg picture by raymondlee06

i actually just use two of them... the rest was added to my "collection" because the agents were all over town to recruit new card members...

i found foreign banks such as hsbc, ocbc and citibank are kinder when they dish out the card limits... local banks are conservative...

but... i have a bone to pick with standard chartered... i was rejected several times even though i have already been approved cards from citibank and hsbc... and ocbc and uob... why are you rejecting me???

on a side note... local bank cards tend to be bad at their service... i recently had the displeasure in cancelling my ambank card... i cancelled it last year and this year they still said i had not cancel the card... that was finally sorted out after i called kl... (my own expense)...

my colleague ask for maybank to cancel her waiver... the bank cancel her card instead... IMPROVE your english...

oh well... that is the price to pay.... for one too many cards...

mid autumn festival... a bad dinner...

finally, the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar... mid autumn festival... i will dig up its history.... eating moon cake is a remembrance ritual, not the festival itself...

anyway, me and my folks figured we'll go out for dinner instead of eating in.... our choice...

DSCN7274.jpg picture by raymondlee06

this shop used to be at the very end of lanang road... now it moved to near the new bridge link between sibu and the road to sarikei...

DSCN7273.jpg picture by raymondlee06

today being a festival... the place was crowded... it has an airconditioned room and an open space area... we ate at the open space area...

DSCN7276.jpg picture by raymondlee06

it took a while before our food was ordered.. then when it came... disappointment... here is the review of the food...

medicinal chicken... 樂柴雜

DSCN7282.jpg picture by raymondlee06

i was anticipating this to be the best dish there... a disappointment... the meat, dryer than sahara desert... the texture, tougher than leather... while it has some medicine taste, the chicken was not up to par...

house tofu

DSCN7281.jpg picture by raymondlee06

nine pieces in total... where is the meat sauce... feel very starchy and the sauce is er... feels like oyster sauce... and some other mix... another failure..

mixed vegetables

DSCN7283.jpg picture by raymondlee06

this one... sigh... smallish... and not much choice in vegetables... salty, the taste... not much to say... fail...

fish lung soup...

DSCN7284.jpg picture by raymondlee06

served really late... and taste funny... like sea cucumber soup... not really big pieces of fish lung... and smallish portion for three people... again... fail...

~~~~~
so my moon cake dinner... lousy.... my mom said next time... we cook at home...
flowers are now fruits...
a while back, i posted about the durian tree in my backyard... it flowered and we wondered if fruits would come from it... and sure enough... there are lots on the tree now...
DSCN7270.jpg picture by raymondlee06
they look smallish.. hard to imagine they would become the durian that we all know...
DSCN7271.jpg picture by raymondlee06
writing this post makes me feel like i am writing for some agricultural magazine.. hahaha... remember... if you want your durian to grow well... you must......... hang on.... i dunno nuts about growing durians... i don't even eat it.. hahaha...
DSCN7272.jpg picture by raymondlee06
more updates as they grow...
a call from an investment company???
the newspapers and other media outlets have been reporting on how there has been an increase in fraud conducted over the telephone by people who purported to be from investment firms based overseas intending to invest domestically...
the truth is far from it... i don't think they are sitting in their comfy office in hong kong (that is their claim) to make that call to us here in malaysia... to do market research... i suspect they are here in town and use this to find their victim...
DSCN7262.jpg picture by raymondlee06
basically, if they go through the list in here, they will definitely get some suckers who are not so capable of filtering through the charade...
anyway, when i received that call... their first words are (in mandarin)..."can you speak mandarin?"... then if you answer, they will begin their pitch.. this lady that i was talking to... i don't know what their gimmicks are... but apparently they are doing a market research on some product to be launched here in town at some shop lots... so their aim was to get people to go there and see...
DSCN7263.jpg picture by raymondlee06
then she began to ask my name... my mind was searching for a name... and came up with wang yi... i was going to say i am wang chuang yi (the pop star, hahahah)... but decided to be wang yi instead... then she asked how old i was... i think my voice (which i make to sound youngish) made her think i am in my 20s and in college... suits me find... so she said... when launch comes... ask me and my parents to go... i say OK.. ahhaha
well... so far she has not ask for money... but gave me a reference... i don't know what that reference is... and i didn't bother to copy it down.... i don't know their gimmick.... so i don't know what this will lead to...
anyway.... just beware of this....
dried blueberries... 野生籃莓...
i got this pack of dried blueberries from the local premier importer, tai kiong emporium sdn. bhd...
DSCN7250.jpg picture by raymondlee06
i don't know how much the product is, but because it is going to expire on the 20th of september, i got the product at rm0.99... so basically that is how i can afford these imported products... (read: eat nearly expried goods)...
DSCN7251.jpg picture by raymondlee06
DSCN7257.jpg picture by raymondlee06
i don't think this is an organic product, but it is actually quite nice...
DSCN7252.jpg picture by raymondlee06
some more, it is halal... and from taiwan...
DSCN7256.jpg picture by raymondlee06
it looks like your typical dried sultanas/raisins...
DSCN7254.jpg picture by raymondlee06
but when you bite into it, there are lots of seeds in it...
DSCN7255.jpg picture by raymondlee06
it is actually quite sweet... after a while, it gets quite sickening... hurry if you want to get a packet to taste...
the answer from bank negara...
remember the previous blog about the torn rm5 note... i have got an answer from bank negara...
Mr. Lee,
It is still a legal tender, but to avoid any further rejection by vendors
or other businesses, please come to BNMLINK at Ground Floor, Block D, BNM
Kuala Lumpur to exchange your RM5.00 to a new note.
Secondly, as for the 'dirty' RM1.00 note the advice would be the same as
above, but if the handwriting is on Agong's face, the RM1.00 is no longer
a legal tender.
Thank you
so there you have it.. the torn ringgit is legal tender... and the "graffitti-ed" one (unless the face of the agong is defaced)...
monday blues...
i don't know why but today, i am just struck by the typical monday blues... i just felt depressed...
i guess it was a weekend of inactivity... not much was accomplished during those few days... came monday, that inactivity turned into depression... not that i am depressed in a big way...
though, i am a bit depressed... it is already september... time passed by so quickly and little has been accomplished in this year... i was online with a friend relating how depressed i was because i was having a bad hair day... i think the bad hair day was the non-issue, but being in a depressive mode... not big time depressed, but a bit down...
to top it, i broke some china tonight when i did the wash-up.. not a big deal but just plain bad luck.. i think it came down to last friday's astrology prediction for my week.. a bad week for me; that was the prediction.. not that i believe in that, but it was not exactly the good news i want to hear..
it is one of those times, i guess.. i guess it is one of those time i crave some some human contact.. to connect on a different level than online.. emotional connection.. hahaha.. as if to sound more sophisticated that i really am..
maybe it is the changing of the northern hemisphere season as fall/autumn sets in.. where the color palatte changes to more earth tones.. where everything goes into hybernation.. and probably that is what i am doing, hybernating.. a conflict..
is this a legal tender??
a few days ago, i was given this rm5 after my purchase...
DSCN7245.jpg picture by raymondlee06
what i did not notice was the tear on the top right hand corner of the note...
DSCN7246.jpg picture by raymondlee06
because of this tear, this note was rejected at the local supermarket and by vendors...
i was under the impression that if these notes are still resembling a note (ie that it is still recognizable) then it should be legal tender and accepted...
i will write bank negara to get a clarrification on this matter...
in the meantime, i was pissed... the other time, a note with some handwritten numbers on it was also rejected...
so what are my rights exactly?
OMG... things are getting expensive when...
i know, the newspaper reported that our inflation crept up again... i knew that was the case but it really hit me today when i went to the local pasar malam....
DSCN7231.jpg picture by raymondlee06
behold, the local kuih apong bali mini (at least that is what i thought is called)... before for rm1 you get three pieces... today, i was shocked to be told that one piece is now 40sens... so rm1 will not get you that three pieces...
DSCN7232.jpg picture by raymondlee06
luckily another one of my favourite, this kueh nyonya (or whatever it is called) is still rm1 for four pieces...
but having chowed down a piece of each, there is a fowl taste in my mouth... that my rm1 is getting less and less... pretty soon the air that i breath in and the space that i occupy will be taxed...
help!!!!!
staying connected...
i have to say, it is nice to have IM services... you don't need to be disconnected from your friends or relatives because work or other committments resulted in you not being in the same area/region/continent...
so far this long weekend, i managed to keep in contact with my childhood friends who have now scatter all over the place... india/canada/japan/singapore...
then there are other contacts in china/australia/new zealand...
most of all, even in-country, i can chat with my friend in penang without having to send an sms or make a phone call... hahaha... OK la... i am doing a cost-cutting exercise due to my budget contraints...
i figure i will go stir crazy if i am not connected online...  but using all these IM's brought me to think.... remembering accounts and passwords... luckily the computer remembers it for me... otherwise, i will keep on trying passwords and userid until i was locked out...
